The fort of Douaumont is the largest fortification in the fortified town of Verdun. Occupied by the Germans for most of the battle, it was subjected to constant bombardment. A visit to this "giant" is an authentic immersion in the place where thousands of soldiers lived and fought. The fort of Douaumont is an emblematic site of the Battle of Verdun.

Fort of Douaumont opening hours:
From 18 September 2023 to 6 January 2024: open every day from 9.30am to 5.30pm
The three sites are closed on 24 and 25 December 2023, 1 January 2024 and from 7 January to 5 February 2024.
Last admission 45 minutes before the closure of the Verdun Memorial and 30 minutes before the closure of the Douaumont and Vaux forts.
